Meeting Minutes

AUGUST 4, 2008

President Berube called the meeting to order at 7:03PM

Pres. Berube did the drawing for the August raffle tickets. The winners are as followed: 1st-Doug Forget; 2nd-David Chabot; 3rd-Arthur Goulet; 4th-7th-Jay Varteresian; Nick Bik; Ken Zereski; Dean Bryant; 8th-13th-John Kurtyka, Jr.; Charles Warren; Rino Grassi; Mauro Gulino; Kevin Cloutier; and Dana Padula.

Secretary’s Report
Chris Britt read the Secretary’s report. Ray DeMore made a motion to accept; Mike Perks seconded.

Treasurer’s Report
Jerome Jussaume read the Treasurer’s report. Ray Moloney, Sr. made a motion to accept; Ray DeMore seconded.

Secretary’s Correspondence
Pres. Berube read a letter from the Uxbridge Committee regarding a donation for the Vietnam Vets Memorial Monument. Will be brought up under new business.

Committee Report
There were no reports from Audit, BMP, Board of Advisors, Land Acquisition, Pistol, Pond, and WCL.

Archery
Steve Lemoine reported on the archery shoots held. The Traditional Bow of New England (traditional only) that was held on July 19th and 20th, had 71 shooters that participated. They raised $XXX.XX for Camp Joslin for the 10-target bonus course. Steve thanked the Club for letting him have this bonus course. The Safari League Shoot was held on July 27th. There were 48 shooters and during this shoot they raised another $XX.XX for Camp Joslin. Steve thanked everyone who helped out with both shoots, the Kitchen Crew, the members that helped set-up and take down the targets and helped cook the chicken.

Fish
Ken Mercer thanked Steve Lemoine (our Archery Chairman), for taking the time to unclog the left culvert pipe. He found time during his very busy archery shoot weekend to do this for the Club. Steve, as in the past, put on his scuba gear and branch-by-branch unclogged the culvert. August 31st, a Sunday, is the last day for canoes and kayaks on our pond. September 17th (Wednesday) at 10:00AM is our next trout stocking. Water level and temperature may have an effect on this date. We’ll keep you informed if there are any changes.

Forestry
Gordon DeJong reported that all the wood was sold. They might be more wood in the future.

Game
Jerome Jussaume reported that a porketta would be held August 16th. The price of the tickets is $15.00 for adults and $7.50 for children 12 and under. A work sign-up sheet will be placed on the table at the end of the meeting. The Youth Pheasant Program will be September 27th, for youths 12-17. The program will be limited to 15 kids. Youths that signed up last year are eligible, but will be placed on a waiting list to allow other kids a try that haven’t already done so. Be careful there is a bee’s nest in the field.

Trap
Dario DePasquale reported that mid-summer is here so join us on Tuesday nights, from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. As always we are open on Sundays at 1:00PM till 4:00PM. The range is open to the public. A little announcement, I would like to congratulate Greg Pellegrini of Uxbridge who shot his first 25. If you have any questions please call me at (413)237-9334.

Rifle
Ray Moloney Sr. reported that the backstops have been ruined. He will try to build some new ones when he gets a chance. He still needs help at the range. Live rounds are still being found out there.

Ground and Maintenance
Gordon DeJong reported that there’s been an issue at the shed and the locks need to be changed.

Kitchen
Ray DeMore thanked everyone that helped out in the kitchen during the archery shoots. He will need help for the porketta.

Membership
Mike Perks reported that the updated Probationary attendance/work hours and waiting list are posted in the glass cabinet. If your hours do not match what is posted please remember to keep your time to get your credit for all hours worked. As a member if you have sponsored a Probationary Member, it is your responsibility to help them through the work hour and meeting process. We are nearing the end of our year and the opportunity for work hours and meetings is dwindling. As a member it is also a good time to cover your responsibility to the Club and get involved and help out. You will also save $XX.XX

Work Hours
Durk Lawson reported that he posted the updated work hours in the glass cabinet.

Club House
Steve Bedard reported that he needs help and there’s plenty to do.

Newsletter
Pres. Berube reported that a few newspapers have been returned.

Website
David St.Martin reported that the website (former) is up to date. He is working on getting the new website up and running soon.

Old Business
Ray DeMore reported that the generator needs to be serviced and should be placed in an area that the kitchen crew can access it in case of an emergency. Gary will bring it to be serviced and work on finding a place/something to store it in.

Durk Lawson made a motion and Gordon DeJong seconded to adjourn the meeting at 7:54PM.
