Meeting Minutes

JUNE 2, 2008

President Berube called the meeting to order at 7:00PM

Secretary’s Report
Chris Britt read the Secretary’s report. Ray DeMore made a motion to accept; Bob Brooks seconded.

Treasurer’s Report
Jerome Jussaume read the Treasurer’s report. Bob Brooks made a motion to accept; Durk Lawson seconded.

Secretary’s Correspondence
Chris Britt read the correspondence from Viola at West Hill Dam regarding the Kids Fishing Derby.

Committee Report
There were no reports from Audit, BMP, Board of Advisors, Club House, Forestry, Land Acquisition, Newsletter, Pond, WCL, and Work Hours.

Archery
Steve Lemoin reported on the upcoming archery shoots: a Traditional Bow of New England (traditional only) will be held July 19th and 20th and The Safari League Shoot will be July 27th. Kids shoot for free. Steve is looking for help to set-up and take down the targets. The kitchen will be open. A chicken dinner will be held during the July 19th shoot, $8.00 a ticket. The archery trailer needs the door fixed. If you need hours contact Steve at 508-769-0939.

Fish
Ken Mercer reported that on May 10th they held their annual Junior Members Trout Derby. Even though the weatherman called for heavy rain, more than 50 Jr. Members competed in this years’ derby. It was tough fishing but every child fished hard for 2 hours. He would like to thank the parents and grandparents for taking the time and for supporting these kids. It’s the one thing we do annually for our Jr. Members and I hope it continues with the next chairperson. He also thanked Harry Beane, Mike Perks, Tim Duffy and Wayne Bernheisel for helping during the derby; Willie, Ray, and the kitchen crew for doing a great job preparing and serving breakfast; and every Jr. Member who took part in this years’ derby are all winners.

For the largest fish caught, prizes were awarded to:
4-8 Year Olds:

1. John Lesack-18” Rainbow
2. Kyle Mecure-17” Rainbow
3. Aron Labaste-16 ¾” Rainbow

9-14 Year Olds:

1. Alicia Phillips-16 7/8” Rainbow
2. Robert Lancaster- 16 ½” Rainbow
3. Jonathon Mecure-13 7/8” Rainbow

15-18 Year Olds:

1. Dylan Kill-14 3/8” Rainbow
2. Brett Graham-14 ¼” Rainbow
3. Brittni Kill-13 ¾” Rainbow

Kayaks and canoes are allowed on the pond from July 1st to the end of August. Providing each person in the boat is equipped with a life jacket and must be worn while on the water.

Game
Jerome Jussaume reported that his son-in-law and him raised the net. The net is getting old, might be able to get another season out of it. It’s time to start thinking about replacing it. Will try to schedule a meeting before the next Club Meeting.

Pistol
Wayne Lavelle reported that it’s hard for John to attend meetings since he is working 3rd shift. About a dozen people showed up for yesterdays shot. He would like to post the shoots and rules over there.

Trap
Dario DePasquale announced to the members to please join them on Sundays from 1-4 for the shoots, and starting June 17th, the range will be open every Tuesday, from 6-8:30PM. They are looking for range officers to help run the trap machine. If you have any questions please call Dario at (413)237-9334. The cost is $3.00 per round. The range is open to the public, and for the new members of the Uxbridge Club, this is a way to meet other Club Members.

Rifle
Ray Moloney reported that live rounds were found over on the grounds. The Enfield Shoot is coming up. If you haven’t signed up, please do. They need help cleaning the range, if you need hours please contact him.

Ground and Maintenance
Tom Huber reported that he would be coming here Saturday to cut the grass. There will be a work party held on June 28th at 8AM.

Kitchen
Ray DeMore reported that Derby went well. He received a lot of help. He will need help for the upcoming shoots in July.

Membership
Mike Perks reported that the Probationary attendance, work hours and waiting list has been updated and posted in the glass cabinet. If your hours do not match, please remember to keep your slips and to check with the chairperson who signed it for you to make sure they reported your time, so you’ll get your credit. As of this report there are 0 out of 34 probationary members that have fulfilled their commitment to the Club.

Website
David St. Martin reported that the minutes and announcements have been updated on the website to date. If you would like events posted, you can email him at generic@usa.com.

Old Business
Dick Baker gave an updated report regarding the gravel.

New Business
Bob Brooks made a motion appropriate up to $XX.XX for the West Hill Dam Kids Derby; Jerome Jussaume seconded.

Jerome Jussaume made a motion to transfer $X,XXX.XX from the General Funds to the Fish Fund; Bob Brooks seconded.

David St. Martin made a motion to appropriate $XXX.XX per year for the website to rent a name and space so it can be updated; Bob Brooks seconded.

Dave St. Martin passed out ballots to vote on a website name.

Norm Thibeault made a motion to have the card table move back to the Club House; Bob Brooks seconded. 16 opposed and 7 in favor. The opposed have it.

Bob Brooks made a motion; Durk Lawson seconded and passed to adjourn the meeting at 7:50PM.
